With Spotify's latest "Token-enabled Playlists," Web3 and NFT use cases have advanced to a new level. On February 22, Overlord, a Web3 gaming and media entertainment platform, tweeted the news.
According to the release, the service would enable Web3 wallet connections and playlist listening for non-fungible token owners. Android users in the UK, US, Australia, Germany, and New Zealand may now access the service pilot.
Due to the adoption of Web3 by various businesses and artists, including Spotify, the music industry witnessed multiple NFT financing rounds, sales, and collaborations. Users may stream millions of music playlists and other types of material on the worldwide digital podcast, music, and video service platform known as Spotify.
The most recent development could represent an advancement into the Web3 market. The site gave artists the option to add non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to their profiles last year.
According to the latest information, NFT holders have access to the token-enabled playlist service on the Fluf, Overload, Kingship, and Moonbirds platforms. Users of the service would have access to carefully chosen music playlists that would be updated during the three-month test. Also, a special URL would be required for community members to access it.
The selected playlist can only be accessed by owners of Overlord's Creepz NFT project who have connected their Web3 wallets to Spotify. Despite the fact that Overlord first reported this information, the Spotify team acknowledged it in a Twitter reply and expressed their eagerness to investigate the new offer.
Kingship, a Universal Music Group NFT band, also tweeted about the incident. The platform said that it produced a playlist with token support for NFT holders that included songs by Queen, Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, and Led Zeppelin.
Also, a snapshot from the test run of the new service was supplied by Apoorv Lathey, head developer of NFTX, an NFT liquidity protocol. The screenshot included detailed directions for connecting to the Spotify playlist that Kingship had chosen.
