Reports of seven cryptocurrency protocols losing $21 million in February 2023 in cyberattacks

DeFiLlama, a DeFi project aggregator, has reported that in February, seven DeFi protocols suffered security breaches resulting in a total loss of over $21 million to hackers. Among the victims was BonqDAO, which lost $1.7 million to an oracle attack, and Orion Protocol, which was drained of roughly $3 million through a reentrancy attack. dForce Network was also attacked but had all its funds returned when the hacker revealed himself to be a white hat hacker. Platypus Finance lost $9.1 million in a flash loan attack, which led to the arrest of two suspects by French police, and Hope Finance saw roughly $2 million stolen from users through a smart contract exploit. The attacks highlight the importance of ensuring robust security measures are in place to protect DeFi platforms and their users.
