According to a recent story, a Colombian court recently held its first judicial trial in the Metaverse, with the court magistrate remarking that it felt "more genuine than a video chat."

A court case involving players in a traffic disagreement was held in the Metaverse on February 15 according to a Reuters story that was released on February 24.

The case, which lasted for two hours and involved a regional transport union suing the police, will be "partially" heard in the metaverse, with a chance that the decision may also be made there.

In a digital courtroom with Magistrate Maria Quinones Triana clothed in formal black robes, the participants were represented by avatars.

Quinones told Reuters that it seemed more "real than a video chat," making Colombia one of the first nations in the world to test out legal processes in the metaverse.

This follows a previous study conducted by CoinWire on Jan. 16 that revealed 69% of respondents thought the metaverse will eventually change social behaviors as a result of novel ways to leisure and activities.

The "real world side" of the metaverse will "emerge in the next 10 years," according to Cathy Hackl, author of Entering the Metaverse: The Essential Guide to the Commercial Possibilities of the Web3 Age.

If that is taken into account, then, according to Hackl, "the metaverse will have a profound influence on how we socialize."
