Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, attempted to purchase Twitter in early 2021.

However, it is unknown if he was unable to close the deal due to a lack of funding or was the billionaire really concerned about the bots. Some have speculated that the reason behind Musk's failed purchase attempt was his collateral - Tesla shares. If Elon had been able to secure the loan using his Tesla stock as collateral, he may have been successful in purchasing Twitter. However, the value of Tesla shares has fluctuated greatly in recent months, making it difficult for Elon to secure the funds needed to purchase Twitter. Additionally, there is speculation that Elon may have to purchase twitter in a forced purchase lawsuit - meaning that he would have had to buy Twitter regardless . However, it is unclear whether or not a forced purchase attempt would be successful. Ultimately, It could be possible that Elon was unsuccessful in his attempt to complete the purchase of Twitter due to a combination of factors - including the volatility of Tesla stock and an unwillingness of vendors willing to loan the funds based on the collateral.

Elon Musk's recent offer has raised a lot of questions. It is doubtful that Twitter will be able to force Elon to make good on his offer. It is also doubtful that Musk would sell his Tesla Shares and to complete the purchase. However, the damage caused to Twitter's reputation based on the findings of Musk and his Opened statements may show a third story to this ordeal. Was Elon's true intention to damage the reputation and value of Twitter or was this truly a rash decision made by the billionaire with good intentions? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
